AWAD already works in this sphere. We are aware that working
with
diverse cultures is an increasingly core activity as well as the
current concern to globalise the interpretations of museum
exhibitions.
AWAD has carried out successful projects, with education staff at the Museum of
Science and Industry, Manchester and Maconi Museum, Essex, to explore
West African interpretations of the history in their museums.
Meetings with staff from the regional Museums,
Libraries and Archives (MLA), Essex Museums, Manchester Museum of
Science and Industry and Manchester Museum have confirmed the value of
the programme's approach and the centrality of involving
African/Southern people to meet their agenda where archives and
exhibitions lend themselves to the promotion of education and development objectives.
