IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS

  1. AWAD Serves as a networking advocacy, and training forum for both grassroots and non-grassroots African Women, Community Groups, and Artists.
  2. We consistently and persistently challenge racial discrimination, gender oppression and wrong perceptions of grassroots African women by emphasising the positive role their artistic and cultural skills have in sustainable communities and globalisation.
  3. AWAD mobilise and builds the leadership capacity and expertise of individual Africans to set up community groups as an avenue for bringing their perspectives, especially cultural artists as educators that support diversity, community cohesion integration development education.
  4. We Create space for our member groups to identify and highlight issues of concern to development of their communities and speak out about these issues for themselves.
  5. We provides a platform member groups where mainstream organisations can reach, build links and develop partnership opportunities with them to play a valuable role in social-economic, policy and decision making arenas.
  6. We promote a better understanding of the need to preserve culture and traditions that is declining and in danger of dying out as a result of changing economies, migration, aging and technology etc.
  7. We campaigns for recognition of the role of rural arts and cultural heritage in poverty reduction, rural-urban reconnection, environmental care, education, social inclusion and diversity.

PRESENT STEPS

AWAD provides practical support using arts, culture and heritage action to help stimulate thriving and healthy community through centrally based and outreach services. We Promote events, festivals, exchange, exhibitions and educational workshops to help communities re-gainin their self-confidence, sense of worthiness and appreciation of their arts, culture and heritage. A five year strategic plan has been set-up for executing each identified plan, monitoring and evaluation of our service deliveries.

  1. Improve and extend existing services
  2. Development of projects including training and delivery plans.
  3. Advocate for resources with which we can progress AWAD’s work, create access facilities and quality delivery.
  4. Plan for strengthening the organisation – capacity, membership recruitment and partnership building.
