AWAD will develop in a way that the
organisation will build on past
achievement as an important step for the following goal:
promotion, disseminating and sharing of all of
the different African arts, crafts and cultural heritage.
Devise ways of enabling
knowledge of intangible heritage
(arts and crafts) to be passed onto people who have the potential of
enjoying the activity and/or developing the skill.
Provide potential for new job opportunities especially
through arts and craft heritage training and education.
Engage with local community and regional partnerships that
can help raise awareness of the importance of african cultural heritage and link in
with regeneration programs at a local, regional, national and international level.
Highlight the opportunities
for intercultural learning and
cultural skills exchange.
promote the traditional arts and cultural
skills to an international audience through different methods.
Source opportunities for
national and international
exchange of (African and non-African) culture and craftspeople who
would not otherwise be able to explore other craft techniques.
Develop own research and
consultancy capacity and be
commissioned on a regular basis by mainstream bodies in the voluntary, public and private sector.
Continue Building partnerships locally, Nationaly and
internationaly.
Profile AWAD as an oganisation of significance, playing a key role for networking, african community groups, advocacy, cultural training, research, and information dissemination.
